Kibale National Park is located in western Uganda, near the town of Fort Portal. It spans over 766 square kilometers and is known for its diverse ecosystems, ranging from tropical rainforests to grasslands and wetlands. The park is part of the larger Kibale Conservation Area and is bordered by Queen Elizabeth National Park to the south, creating an important wildlife corridor.
Kibale National Park is famous for its rich biodiversity, particularly its population of primates. It is home to over 13 primate species, including the endangered chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and L'Hoest’s monkeys. The park also hosts over 375 bird species, elephants, bush pigs, and various antelope species. The lush greenery and unique wildlife make it a prime destination for eco-tourism and research.
Visitors to Kibale National Park can enjoy guided chimpanzee tracking, bird watching, nature walks, and cultural encounters with the local communities. The park is managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, which ensures its conservation through strict regulations and community involvement.
